So for the pass weekend and thus far this week, hip-hop internet bloggist have jumped on the chance to bash Lupe Fiasco once again on his performance for the VH1's Hip-Hop Honors Awards on the tribute for A Tribe Called Quest. Now Lupe has gone on the record numerous of times in various interviews stating the rap he grew up listening to were Spice 1, UGK, 8 Ball & MJG (Gangsta Rap). Yet for whatever reason unbeknown to him he was approach by his label & "Q-Tip" to participate in the tribute. According to him(whom i believe) he initially turned it down but due to Q-tip reaching out to ask him to reconsider he accepted. Now recently Lu has made comments on several sites explaining himself and his flub of a mere 2 bars and the internet sites have went into a frenzy. (Read about it Here)Lupe Haters came out the woodwork to jump at the chance to bash and validate their dislike for him because of this performance. :::sidenote::: How can somebody not love this man??? Are they serious his music is nothing but positive, he's different, innovative, and super interesting.....uh the professional fan just flew outta me for a sec. Ok back to the topic at hand but recently on Hiphopdx.com there's a quote that Q-tip allegedly denied that he personally reached out to Lupe to ask him to do the event.(Read About it Here) Now regardless of the pretenses in which he was brought into the performance the fact still remains that SO FREAKIN WHAT!!!!! He flubbed up a lil on his performance. He knew a heck of a lot of the verse to me. So much in fact that i wouldn't have even noticed the mess up if he hadn't laughed after it. What's hilarious is people on the message boards are buggin out and saying he didn't care about the tribute enough to study the lyrics but i saw the complete opposite of that. DANG he had a whole bunch of energy on stage and seemed to really be enjoying himself on stage. If he hadn't cared about the performance he coulda just stood there after the mess up or walked off stage!!!!!! Then he was getting all kinds of backlash for him saying ATCQ wasn't his choice of music and that has/had no interest in going listen to the previous albums. SO WHAT!!!! Anyway i could go on on on about this so i'll just stop but one thing is was a lil dissappointed about was Lu's need to explain himself on okayplayer.com's message board. He was hard down explaining himself and debating a lil about his side of the performance. LU for your TRUE fans you need not explain JACK!!!! Fan's like i got you and enjoyed just seeing you performing.....actually you coulda just stood there and i'd have thought that was a great performance!!!!!HAHA
